Atlas® Van Lines Awards 17 Agents With Sustainable Certifications

EVANSVILLE, IND. – (November 4, 2019) – Industry leading relocation company, Atlas ® Van Lines, has named 17 Certified Sustainable Agents for 2019, recognizing their proven and documented green efforts to help ensure the well-being of our planet.

Launched in 2016, the company’s Sustainable Agent Certification defines standards in areas of agency operations, with attainment of the standards earning agents the Atlas credential of “Certified Sustainable Agent.” The program’s initial standards are both practical and attainable, starting with options that agents can implement immediately.

Atlas offers two levels of certification to its agents, each organized around five key focus areas including:
  • Materials management – Purchasing materials from sustainable and responsible sources and putting a recycling system in place.
  • Transportation – Taking great measures to reduce fuel consumption throughout the entire moving process.
  • Administration – Conserving print resources.
  • Facilities – Improving energy efficiency in office and warehouse locations.
  • Community – Choosing community partners that promote sustainability.
Agents must achieve the Level 1 standards for each of these five areas before they can apply to be certified as a Level 2 Sustainable Agent, a certification requiring more stringent criteria and proof that agents are progressing their sustainable efforts.

“We are more aware than ever that sustainable practices are critical for our planet and communities, which is why we are committed to furthering our green efforts across the enterprise,” said Jack Griffin, Chairman, and CEO of Atlas World Group. “It’s with great pride that we recognize the initiative of our agents for playing a critical role in our efforts to increase the company’s sustainability overall.”
