AGENTS OF RELIEF - Southern Indiana

Shetler Moving & Storage Steps Up to Aid Tornado Victims in Southern Indiana

In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that swept through Southern Indiana in July 2024, the community witnessed an outpouring of support and generosity. Among the many acts of kindness, Shetler Moving & Storage, Inc. 1830 made a significant contribution by donating numerous Styrofoam coolers to assist those affected by the disaster.

The donation aimed to provide immediate relief to families and individuals who lost their homes and belongings. These coolers helped preserve perishable items, ensuring affected residents had access to fresh food and essential supplies during this challenging time.

To distribute these coolers efficiently, the Red Cross set up an emergency center inside Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana.

Residents were able to stop by the center to obtain coolers and other necessary aid. Shetler Moving & Storage's generous donation is a testament to the power of community solidarity and the importance of local businesses stepping up in times of crisis. Their contribution not only provided practical assistance but also brought hope and comfort to those grappling with the aftermath of the tornadoes.

Tommy Shetler said, "The day after the storms (July 31) was my birthday, or as my nieces and nephews call it, 'Tommy Day.' I have so many blessings in my life that at any milestone I cannot help but to look back in gratitude. Every year on my birthday (Tommy Day), I try to do something in the service of others."

It's the collaborative efforts of Agents like Shetler Moving & Storage and the Red Cross that highlight the resilience and compassion that define Southern Indiana. Together, they are making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected, demonstrating that even in the face of adversity, the spirit of giving and support remains strong.
